We have sliced open our sea creatures

and stitched them back together with

fishing line

We have given them lungs

crafted from deflated shopping bags

and bones built out of packing peanuts

We have filled their gullets with bottle tops

and chocolate wrappers, then let them loose

in a kelp bed of shower gel and silky plastic sheets

We play with our little rubber albatrosses

and watch the styrofoam sea turtles gliding

through the soapsuds

When we get bored, we strip down our sharks

and toss them onto

the bathroom floor to rot
