Pheasants whose noise is so disturbing

Soaring swooping kahu, king of the skies, top of the food chain

Sparrows that chirp chirp chirp and chirp

Oh no, a stoat!

The blackbirds flee and my dad chases the stoat with a rock

The stoat runs away

A piwakawaka peeps, almost landing on my finger

I look up into a tree at a shimmering green bellbird

singing in the autumn breeze

A grey warbler warbles on top of a bush
