Ode to Praying Mantis

Dear praying mantis

with your lightning-fast legs,

you’d slash a bug, like we cut bread.

I don't know how you do it.

Those super-thin legs are so powerful

as you unleash all your strength.

It fascinates me.

Why are you coloured in green?

You could have been any colour

with those spiky, long legs.
