I climbed into the backseat of my car

the windscreen was polished and shining.

With a roar of power, the engine started.

I touched the fuzzy fabric roofliner.

The strawberry air refresher reminded me of fresh fruit.

Petrol fumes smelled repulsive, like corpses.

The vinegary potato chips pierced my tongue like a spear.

Sweet chocolate and lollies made my taste buds jump.

I felt relaxed, driving to Akaroa.
