Hunger

I am a snake.

I hiss with fury, for I am defending my land.

Does anyone know how truly cunning I am?

Although I am small,

I can strangle and then kill with one bite.

Hunger.

I approach with care, then kill my prey with no mercy.

I lay low, pounce, then coil again.

“You are smart and sly,” they say.

Surging forward, I am ready for battle.

I may seem devious

but I’m just ahead of the curve.
