The Lake

A black shag whistles as it swoops by.

The salty water brushes my skin and stings my eyes.

As I come to the surface, my parents’ voices fill my ears.

The chops on the barbecue fills my nostrils.

I dive under and it burns my taste buds,

like I ate a cup of salt.
