The night market in Boracay

People crowd around popular stores —

the ones that have barbecue, fruit skewers and tropical drinks.

Warm lights buzz over the paths.

Samples are handed out in small portions.

I taste one of the chocolate strawberry doughnuts, cut small.

It tastes like pure happiness.

The familiar smell of pork buns, hot waffles and inihaw

draws me into the stalls.

They are heavily covered in adverts of delicious food.

People chatter and munch on a variety of delicious food.

A wash of cold wind makes me shiver and get goosebumps.

The crackle of fire from the barbecue spits

and melts away in the distance.

I feel safe and comforted.

The smells of food linger.
