The Memory Box

My favourite thing in the world is my memory box.

I keep it in my school bag so that I can take it everywhere I go.

It makes an old clamping sound every time I open or close it.

It holds unforgettable memories from the people I love.

The box itself was a gift from my childhood best friend from India.

It holds parts of gifts that I receive from my family and friends.

It has a hairband from my best friend Senushi,

a card with a letter written for me from my friend Euhan

that was tied to a jar cake, a pen with an elastic attached

to hang from my jacket, from another friend, because

I kept losing my pen.

They are there to remind me

about those moments in the past.

I think of my memory box as a good luck charm.
