The Parrot Incident

I went to Willowbank with my school and when we first got there, a lady introduced us to the eels. They weren't electric eels, they were just eels. We got to pet them and feed them but some of the eels bit some of the children's fingers. They didn't break through the skin but the children did say it was painful.

I said, ‘That's not my fault.’

Then we met some animals but when the caretakers said we were going to feed some birds, that's when I jumped with excitement. I love birds.

When we met a kakapo and it tried to steal one of my teacher's earrings and jewellery.

We met talking parrots and one’s beak grabbed my arm and its claw scratched me. I had bruises and I still have the scar on my arm.

One of the other red parrots swore at us.

The teacher said, “I think we can go to another animal!”

Even though the parrots scratched me, bit me and swore at me, **%$#@!  I still love birds.
