The bird was flying through the wires,

it was daytime, and the bird could see perfectly well.

In a millisecond, the bird fell to the ground.

A man, walking on the pavement

to go to work, nearly stepped onto

the poor bird that had just lost its

ability to fly.

The man picked up the bird,

took it home and fed it bird food.

The bird’s condition was getting worse.

It started shedding its feathers,

and the man could see the bird’s eyes

were starting to fog up.

The man tried to save it, took it to the vet,

but he was too late. It died before his eyes.

He couldn't believe it. He felt that if he took care

of another animal it would end up the same way

as the bird. 

Would he stop taking care

of animals after that day?
