The Rabbit and Croissant of Death: A story in two voices
By
Jhai and Aki

From behind the glass at the bakery, I sniff the fresh pastries.
Behind the glass shelf in a bakery, I lie.
I nudge my owner as she walks past. But she doesn’t buy me a croissant. She keeps on walking.
I see the rabbit nudge its owner.
Suddenly the glass shatters.
An individual breaks in wearing a ski mask. He robs the place.
I get picked up by a man in a ski mask.
The individual shoots and kills the shop owner and shoots all the witnesses. He doesn’t shoot me because I'm a bunny.
Red liquid comes flying over me as I am taken out of the store.
I run away.
The man trips on a singular piece of grass. He drops a croissant.
I’m dropped and then, suddenly, I get picked up again but this time by a small black bunny. A bunny? Where did that come from, it sounds like it should be in another story.
I pick up the croissant lying on the ground.
An asteroid blows up the store.
The croissant and I….
The bunny and I …
We turn to a life of crime!
