A Great Hike

I walked through the spiky bushes, yelling on the inside every time I hit them. So many bushes and spikes. Why did my dad plan this hike?
There was a river flowing throughout the entire journey to Cameron Hut. Twenty kilometres to get there and twenty kilometres back. I thought it couldn’t get worse until halfway in, there was a giant steep hill that still had a lot of mud from the last time it rained. My dad told me that we would soon get to the end of the hike and the next minute he told me we were halfway. I felt my body go weak.
I started to feel anxious that we wouldn’t get there before dark. Finally, we arrived at the hut and the hut looked like a star in a pile of dirt! We got told the hut was overcrowded so we had to set up a tent.
I looked around and I saw so many mountains with snow. I was freezing but I was glad that I was able to relax now.
Then, I started to realise that the next day was only going to get worse…
